The title of this work may suggest revisionist history. It is not. Laurence Rees has traced the history of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the infamous death camp. This book was originally published to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the camp's liberation. I read it now to commemorate the 75th anniversary of that liberation.
There is no way I can even begin to describe the horrors and suffering of that time--and the further horror Holocaust deniers further add to crimes perpetrated on an innocent people who's only CRIME was being of Jewish ancestry. I read this book because I believe there is great value in remembering history. I want never to forget it.
Laurence Rees has written several books about World War II and the Holocaust , and has produced films on the subject for the BBC. I highly recommend this most excellent book.
