The Clay Hand by Dorothy Salisbury Davis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
A famous journalist is murdered in a small mining town in the mid twentieth century, and all of the town's flaws come to light in the process of solving the crime. This is truly one of the best mysteries I've ever read. Everything about this book is superb, from the writing to the character development and suspense. The twists and turns keep coming until the very end.
